Quiénes somos

The Marshall Catholic Newman Center has operated as the base for the greater Catholic Community at Marshall University for 40 years. Established by the Diocese of Wheeling-Charleston in April of 1981, it has been our mission to bring students together in an intentionally Catholic environment so that they may come know, love, and serve Jesus Christ and His Church. Casey Pierce

Hello! My name is Casey Pierce, and I am your campus minister at Marshall University. I’m originally from Kansas City, but I’ve also lived in St. Louis and Panama City Beach. I received my Master in Theological Studies from Newman University in 2023, and have worked in ministry for two years, particularly in planning service projects and community events. My hobbies include reading, baking, hiking, and playing board games. I’m always down for grabbing a coffee somewhere or playing a board game here at the Newman Center. Monsignor Dean Borgmeyer

Greetings friends. I am Monsignor Dean Borgmeyer. I am known by “Monsignor Dean” or “Father Dean”…your choice. I am the pastor of St. Joseph Catholic Church on 13th street. I am 75 years old and have been a priest for 45 years. I have served the Newman community for the past 12 years. I am originally from St. Charles, Misouri. I graduated from St. Meinrad College in 1978, and received my Master of Divinity from Mount St. Mary of the West in Cincinnati, Ohio in 1981. I served as a U.S. Corpman for 4 years and later, after ordination, as a Chaplain in the Navy. While you are here at Marshall, you will find me at the food court having coffee, or the Newman Center having Wednesday evening masses at 5:00 pm, or available for confession when needed. Fr. Chris Turner

Greetings, my name is Father Chris Turner and I am a chaplain for the Marshall Catholic Newman Center. I am from Bridgeport, WV and was ordained a priest in 2005. I enjoy the Marshall community and love to walk, play board games, watch movies and play cards. If there is any way I can be of assistance, please do not hesitate to reach out to me! Nick Pauley

Hi! My name is Nick Pauley. I am from Ironton, Ohio. I received my Bachelor of Business Administration in accounting last semester, and now I’m starting graduate schooling. I love sports, racing, and hiking! Feel free to reach out to me pauley321@marshall.edu!

Capilla - Este pequeño espacio de silencio es perfecto para pasar un rato a solas con Dios. Este es un gran lugar para orar y pasar tiempo con nuestro Señor, que está realmente presente en el sagrario. La Misa se celebra en la Capilla o en el Santuario todos los domingos durante los semestres de Otoño y Primavera a las 5:00 PM.

Salón Newman - Ya se trate de una noche de juegos de mesa, carreras por la línea de meta en Mario Kart, estudio de la Biblia, o hacer un nido de estudio de una de nuestras enormes bolsas de frijoles, nuestro Salón Newman es un lugar para que los estudiantes vengan y se pongan cómodos. Mass Times
& Eventos semanales

The Newman Center is regularly open Monday-Friday. The following events occur weekly:

  • El domingo: Mass at 5:00 pm; Confessions heard half an hour before Mass
  • Tuesday: Coffee with a Priest at 10:00 am (at the Memorial Student Center)
  • Wednesday: Coffee with a Priest at 10:00 am (at the Memorial Student Center); Mass at 5:00 pm 
  • Thursday: Dinner for a Dollar at 6:00 pm

Hours During the Semester:
Monday – Thursday: 10:00 am – 8:00 pm
Friday: 10:00 am – 4:00 pm

Hours vary during the summer and winter breaks.
